A little island. Plenty of ways to enjoy the sea.

What are you in the mood for?

Six places to know.

Choose a place, open the map and plan at your own pace. Sea conditions and services can change; check locally on the day.

White sand, loungers and umbrellas at Playa Norte

01 · A CLASSIC BEACH DAY

Playa Norte

White sand and usually shallow, calm water at the north end of the island. A lovely starting point for your first beach day.

Plan your visit

Try a morning visit. Before settling into a lounger, ask about rental charges or a minimum spend. Follow the flags and lifeguards.

Aerial view of the sandy shoreline at Playa Centro

02 · BEACH & DOWNTOWN

Playa Centro

Pair time on the sand with a wander through downtown. This is an easy option to build into a day of browsing, eating and exploring the centre.

Plan your visit

Use marked swimming areas and keep clear of boat traffic. Ask beach staff where to find the nearest toilets, showers and accessible entry points.

Palm-lined beach and waterfront at Playa Lancheros

03 · LUNCH BY THE SEA

Playa Lancheros

Make lunch part of the outing. This west-coast beach is known for tikin xic, the island’s achiote-seasoned fish.

Plan your visit

Ask the restaurant about portions, prices and beach facilities before ordering. Leave the afternoon flexible for a slow meal by the water.

Turquoise water along the rocky shore at Garrafón de Castilla

04 · A SIMPLE SNORKELLING OUTING

Garrafón de Castilla

A beach club with a rocky shoreline and snorkelling opportunities. It is a separate venue from neighbouring Parque Garrafón.

Plan your visit

Confirm admission, equipment rental and what is included directly with the venue. Water shoes can be useful on the rocky shore; follow local guidance before entering.

Coastal view of Parque Garrafón and its waterfront facilities

05 · A PLANNED DAY OF ACTIVITIES

Parque Garrafón

A paid park offering activities such as snorkelling and kayaking, with different packages to choose from.

Plan your visit

Check the official package details. As you are already staying on Isla Mujeres, confirm island arrival arrangements and whether the ticket includes transport you need.

Crescent-shaped shoreline at Playa Media Luna

06 · FOR THE VIEW

Playa Media Luna

An open-ocean shoreline for enjoying the scenery. Strong waves and currents make this a place we do not recommend for swimming or snorkelling.

Plan your visit

Enjoy the view from shore, respect signs and barriers, and keep back from breaking waves and wet rocks.

FROM YOUR ISLAND HOME

Set off from Electricistas.

Casa Milo and Sirenas Studio share a property in Colonia Electricistas. Plan the journey to the beach you choose, including how you will get home.

For Norte & Centro

Head towards downtown and the north end of the island. A taxi is a practical option when carrying your beach things.

For Lancheros & Garrafón

Use the exact destination on the map. Tell your driver whether you mean Garrafón de Castilla or Parque Garrafón.

For the ride home

Confirm taxi fares before setting off. Keep the property pin saved and agree on a pickup point if arranging a return ride.

YOUR RETURN ADDRESS

Calle 16 de Septiembre, colonia Electricistas, frente al Varadero.

Show this to your taxi driver.

A few things make the day easier.

Pack for the day

Bring drinking water, a hat, sun protection, a beach towel and a small bag for your rubbish. Take water shoes for rocky entries.

Check the extras

Budget for transport, food, loungers, equipment and any venue admission. Ask about charges and minimum spends before using beach-club facilities.

Read the sea before you swim

Follow the flags, signs and lifeguards. Supervise children closely and stay in designated swimming areas.

  • Red · do not enter the water
  • Yellow · caution; follow lifeguard advice
  • Green · swimming permitted; remain attentive

Before you grab your towel.

Which beach should I try first?

For a first visit, start with Playa Norte. If you want to combine beach time with downtown, choose Playa Centro. For a lunch-focused outing, consider Lancheros.

Are loungers, food or beach clubs included in my stay?

Plan and pay for beach outings separately unless your booking confirmation specifically includes them. Each venue sets its own charges and conditions.

Will the water look like the photos?

These are destination photos, not live beach conditions. Wind, weather and seaweed can change the experience. Check conditions on the day and keep your plans flexible.

Can I take my dog?

Do not assume every beach or beach club accepts dogs. Check current signs and venue rules before visiting; ask Rocky if you need help planning a pet-friendly outing.
